As a Canadian, I admit we like to make fun of our cousins to the south. Thing is that Americans are not necessarily stupid or ignorant, they are self centered!
Most Americans know a lot about their own country, but most of the time they are unaware that there are other people living outside of the USA.
It's hard to blame them because their media almost never say anything about the rest of the world. All they hear on TV is stuff about the USA; unless there is some kind of natural disaster elsewhere or they invade another country.
Fact is that America is not used to have to worry about the rest of the world, it was just a place for them to dump their manufactured goods and wage wars.
Now that the USA is slowly slipping under, they will have to start paying attention to and respecting other countries.

It has absolutely nothing to do with people being stupid... anyone would assume that a camera crew and a microphone that has a news logo on it is serious about what they are saying and there is so much insane Sh*t in the world that a National IGLOO isn't that far fetched, and changing the currency to a LOONEY isn't that far from us anyway canada mexico and the u.s. might eventually form the North American union. plus you can make any video about any subject and edit only the ones that they want you to see... I'm pretty sure there were a lot of people that asked more about it and said that it was weird. But it turns out they were just being polite to our fellow Canadians.

My favorite one of this series is when he says that president Tim Horton of Canada has extended his igloo by 2 rooms during a recession, do you think this is fair and people were like, well its not a good idea during a recession you know

The guy walks up to someone and starts saying something that is obviously ridiculous, and is stupid enough to think the person is taking him seriously. Most Americans (and Canadians too) would realize that it's some kind of a joke and go along with it, waiting for a punch line or a chance to give a humorous or comical reply. The ones who got annoyed or walked away would be edited out of course. In this case the interviewer didn't have a punch line or even any clever questions. He did a piss poor job of it. He acts like a guy who thinks he's so superior that he doesn't have to think anymore - all arrogance and no creativity. He's just not that good. Any good entertainer can make a better "Funny Americans" video than this. American entertainers do it all the time. We Americans love jokes, even when they're on us, especially jokes that aren't intended to degrade other people. Most unAmericans seem to prefer jokes that do degrade other people, even if they're not funny.

Ok I agree with #5 talking from personal experience; I lived in the US for 1 year and a half and was asked questions like 1. did I use the bridge to cross from europe 2. is hitler still in jail 3. does germany have computers already 4. doesnt germany look like bosnia or some gloomy place. plus many couldnt name major capitals in the world or the continents and my "brother" over there who was 16 at the time thought latin was from latin america.
Thats why I agree with #5 because I also met very distinguished and intelligent people too who were well aware of the predominant ignorance in their country. In my opiniom this is partly due to the variable curriculum of the school system (home ecs and sports in the final school year count as grades, cmon) and a lack of media coverage of the rest of the world, IF you watch the mainstream channels that is.

If you ask stupid questions, you will get stupid answers. But on the other hand it's always fun to laugh at stupid Americans.

#12 i lived in the states for a year as well and i got asked the question, "oh, you're from canada..do you know jane?!" and here i thought i would only hear a dumb question like that from one of our beer commercials. my roommate was studying to be a teacher and she couldn't even name the capital of canada. she thought our "states" were "providences." not saying all americans are dumb, just a lot are very ignorant and only know about their country. i encountered a lot of dumb questions when told i was from canada. i don't blame americans though, their media is brainwashing.

Its amazing how many clips are out there taking the piss out of the yanks, its a well known fact the average american high school kid knows nothing about the out side world and its just too easy to make them look stupid

All I can say is that it looked like it was scripted to me as far as the responses and it had me raising an eyebrow at times in disbelief... but it did make me grin...

Most people forget that the USA was founded by colonies from different countries and peoples (especially Europeans) that wanted to start a new life because of various reasons. Think of it as this way "I have a new better life now why should I care about my past or divide my focus outside of where i reside." This type of mentality is part of the culture and is diffused through generations. Albeit this subject shock foreigners who were never been to the USA and somewhat become experts, of the country and its citizens, through the internet.
Knowing this, most people that enjoy bashing Americans and their ignorance are showing that they too are as ignorant as well. I'm not an American citizen or in fact biased to the matter, but as an immigrant, I could see this in a better perspective. I still have to tackle the product of the clashing of different cultures inside the country, and this proves to be very challenging.

If you stand out on the sidewalk long enough and ask plenty of stupid questions to lots of different passersby you can end up with the edited end result you are looking for.

Come on an igloo as a capital building!! Common sense will tell you that ain't right. Especially if you take into consideration some basic structural impossibilities and the weather (changes in temperature will at least cause cracks in ice). All that makes it at least very unlikely. And then we didn't even look at people that are supposed to work there.
The problem is more that Americans often just believe almost anything they're told by serous sounding people.
Not that the ones in power (the people that bought the US) would want it any other way. People who are educated to thing for themselves are much harder to control.

One day there will be two races of humans the stupid that get targeted for these shows and logical people who have the abilty to think and question the world around them.
You can find the same kind of dults in any country in the world
