#1 In the US this tune with lyrics is known as "My Country, 'Tis of Thee", also known as "America". The tune was originally God save the Queen , but it inspired Samuel Francis Smith to use the melody for his patriotic song about America.

#10 and whoever else bothers to read.
This originated from Germany, the Americans took it, decided it was shite, the Brits then took it and still use it, but only the english stand up when it is played, well, some do, i'm english and i wouldn't stand up for england or america... But if Herr Hitler came home, I would start to listen.

#10 LOL just had to "correct" me...
just because the lyrics are in quotations doesn't mean i was correcting the title, but rather quoting the lyrics that correspond with the uk's titular lyrics of the timeless melody.
why do you vote down "merry christmas"?????????????

#14 I for one had given your "Merry Christmas" wish a thumbs up.For the rest you are just wrong since those words do not correspond to the UK version.

My country, ’tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing;
Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrims’ pride,
From every mountainside,
Let freedom ring!
--notice how "let freedom ring" is where "god save the queen" would conform. jeez
#11 'now he's dead, And so will you be someday without ever doing anything that the world will remember, unlike Smith who has gone down in history as a great lyric writer.

#17 That doesn't make you any less an asshole for your comment. "without ever doing anything that the world will remember" How could you know that? Maybe I am successful. I actually follow you around the "internets" making fun, because i like to.

#19 Well at least now you have shown your true colors.I have found the perfect definition to account for your foul language and your comments.......
"What Is A Troll?
The term derives from "trolling", a style of fishing which involves trailing bait through a likely spot hoping for a bite. The troll posts a message, often in response to an honest question, that is intended to upset, disrupt or simply insult the group.
Usually, it will fail, as the troll rarely bothers to match the tone or style of the group, and usually his ignorance shows."
Sounds like you Ed.
