A little more info would be nice...
According to Wikipedia, it was a gas drilling site. They tapped into a huge cavern of gas and the drilling site collapsed into it. They lit the gas in the cavern to burn it off, thinking it would take a couple days. That was in 1971...
Looked it up in Google Maps, it is legit, also it said 'hell sux dont go there unless ur lame'
Seriously look it up i'm not joking xD
What the hell? (pun intended).
This is one of a couple incredible places on earth that are totally surreal. Like Yellowstone, Catatumbo lightning and salt flats in Chile.

And why haven't anyone made electricity out of this non-stop-furnace??? Are they too busy making nuclear power plants?

I wish I could be there watching the fire, listening the song Entrance by Dimmu Borgir and drinking absinthe ![]()

Lot of people there, so we need a lot of fire under the grill, try the pork it tastes great.
#15 couldnt agree more with your examples of incredible places on earth Yellowstone, Catatumbo lightning etc. But this is a man made fuck up that cant be extinguished
#4 exactly.
#10 Funny thing is, while the gas is on fire, the damage to environment is actually smaller than it would be if the gas escaped to atmosphere.
(This is explained in the movie "Home"![]()
