I don't get what happened. Did the escalator started to roll down fast or did it stop? Because if it stops, unless the people from above start pushing down; there should be no problem.

Watch the WT Worker (Waste Transit??) beginning @0:42 just stand there and watch the chaos and then walk away in disgust at the end. A bit surprising the city worker didn't help out? Maybe not so surprising?

#7 I think the escalator started going too fast, hence "dumping" people.

#8 The watcher is awesome. He probably thinking "WTF is happening? Am I dreaming or is this real life?!" Which would explain why he just stands there waiting for things to go back to normal.
