Look closely at around 1:51. It looks like the head turns as his arm goes by it. As if the little man is looking at the magician, and then back at the audience. Look closely

right as he moves his hand up to snap his fingers.

The art of magic still rest on some ingredients, such as Distraction (all hand movements etc) and Illusions.

The guy was probably in the trunk the whole time, behind a false back wall, and the poster draped over the front following the head roll allowed him to get out and shove the suit parts behind him while unseen.
