The Real Silent Hill
Centralia PA inspired the movie Silent Hill. This is a short film documenting real Silent Hill and the destruction left behind after a 50 year old underground mine fire that continues to burn today.

I seen this one a while back , go on google maps(street view have a drive around ) , visit the town , there is now nothing left of it just empty plots and you can see all the trees on the satellite view there all just dead the whole area is destroyed ![]()
Still think its madness that they cant some how put it out !

So this inspired the videogame, not the movie...is that correct?
#8 Where did profit and greed show up in this vid? This was about a coal fire that was started accidentally , or didn't you watch the whole thing.

#10 I thought of the same..but dont you think they wouldnt have had already done that if it was that easy? Would save some coal to mine later on. My guess is that there are coal veins burning underground..not only mineshafts. So to put it out you need to dig up the enviroment wich is super hot and toxic air already. This is not the only underground mine fire on earth (or in minecraft
)
And for those who said it may inspire the game (#6 #7)..not the movie (just because the game was first). Nope..it inspired the movie..not the game...the game gave the story and this place gave the the inspiraton on how the movie should look like =)

Excellent docu.
But if you're going to add music as a background to what you're saying, beware that making it too loud masks out all the narrator says.
