Weed isn't addictive physically, but people can become mentally dependent on it because it does provide an escape from daily pressures. The relaxation it gives can be hard to leave, especially after prolonged use, simply because it takes guts to face boring or harsh reality after successfully escaping it. In weed focused social circles giving up can be even more difficult due to peer pressure and your own 'identity' as a smoker, which guys like Snoop here make seem very cool. Finally, if you are unmotivated, don't smoke weed 'cos you won't find your get-up-and-go here.

In Amsterdam you only get busted if You sell weed to a minor. Smoking it is ok.

#6 Of course its addictive, many ppl end up getting major psychiatric treatment to get off that stuff, I've seen it happen to my friends too. Its addictive to some people, and not even a bit to others...

#13 i agree it's mentally addictive. and i like what #10 said. i think it's a matter of will. only stupid people smokes too much, because nothing is pushing you to do that. twice a week is enough for me. and i can live among heavy smokers with no problem.(some of them had problems too) It came up with age for me. no offense tho...hope your friends are ok

The gateway drug is Tobacco. It was my first drug! Tobacco should be illegal and weed legal. Tobacco is addictive while pot isn't. The government has its priorities all fucked up. Cater to the corporations not the people.

have a big party cone before bed,wake up the next day smoke a killer bowl off to school do 8 hrs or so then back to home to smoke cone after cone for hours .

I don't smoke it anymore, but I used to, and I still have friends and family that do. Aside from the artificial social biases, it's no different than alcohol. Smoke a little or drink a little at home and get stoned or drunk once in a while at a party and you're pretty much a normal person. Get stoned or drunk all the time and you've crossed the line into addiction/alcoholism.
Anything is addictive - my family tends to be fat, do you think they're not addicted to food? Sure they are. It's the hardest addiction to beat because you have to face your drug of choice every day - you can never quit taking it.
How about those people who go out jogging daily, even in snowstorms? They are as addicted to aerobic exercise as any rummy is addicted to alcohol.
