Our family goat taught me a good one when I was about 3.
I'd pester the crap out of it and pull it by its horns. It got tired of it one day and butted me right up against the fencepost, and I was trapped between its horns. It was "playing" too (didn't hurt me) but DEFINITELY let me know that HE was done playing!

Well, I think that, because the lion has been in a zoo, it responds to human commands and intention. All of those people (well, most of them probably) were calling out for the lion not to eat the deer. Every time they did, the lion was distracted so the deer got away.
You're right too, Brandy. If the lion would have been hungry, that deer would have been TOAST.
