One of the things I like about SNOTR is that there are users all over the world who watch and comment. So with that in mind, I am sure there are a lot of users who probably don't recognize the first two items, here is what they are:

1) Baby Ruth - a type of Chocolate bar (or a Candy Bar for those from the USA)

2) Dad's Root Beer - a brand of Root Beer

I agree some sound would be nice to help explain everything that is happening.

On a more morbid note, updating this animation to show what happens when a person goes through the machine would make for a useful PSA in the farming community. Too many adults and children have been killed after falling into these machines. These types of accidents are horrific but totally preventable.

Just a couple questions:
1) How much CO2, SO2, etc did this volcano spew out in these two eruptions?
2) How does the above number compare to how much CO2/SO2/etc man produces in a day?

(I am not trying to start a global warming debate, I am genuinely curious.)

+7 15. ModifiedGrays commented 9 years ago on video Scythe vs Brushcutter

A more appropriate comparison would be to have scythe vs a combine. A weed eater is used to cut vegetation around curbs, trees, fence lines, etc, it is not the tool for clearing fields of brush. (Lets see how fast the scythe does the edging around a flower bed.)

Interesting to think that when Joe made this jump he had only sky-dived less than 30 times and he went up in an open air gondola vs Felix who had made thousands of jumps and went up in a pressurized capsule.

+9 40. ModifiedGrays commented 11 years ago on video Hydraulic Fracturing is not a health hazard?

For those that are interested here is link to a video that shows you in detail how hydraulic fracturing works and how it has been regulated for decades in Alberta, Canada. Of particular interest is at what depths drinking water is typically found versus the depths of hydro-carbons. http://www.youtube.com/user/ERCB101

Here is a link to the regulatory body in Alberta. Yes, there are places in the world that do successfully regulate the oil & gas industry.
http://www.ercb.ca/

Interesting article on the "power densities" of various forms of energy:
http://scitizen.com/future-energies/how-many-windmills-does-it-take-to-power-the-world-_a-14-1487.html

Finally, remember that anything can be made to seem highly dangerous. (Just look at this website: http://www.dhmo.org/ <--- this is scary stuff and should be banned. :D ) Make sure you do your research and understand what is being said before you start demanding that something should be banned. Honestly, the way people start freaking out about things they know nothing about reminds me of the dark ages where people would be burned at the stake for suggesting the earth is round, or the earth revolves around the sun.

+5 44. ModifiedGrays commented 13 years ago on video Houston Metro Rail

Hmmm...I guess I am the only person here that has actually ridden the Houston LRT and driven in downtown Houston.

I can confirm that the Houston LRT is a TERRIBLE design. (Furthermore the system doesn't go that far, it is only 12.1 km long.) While many of these crashes are related to "driver error", the Metro system is at fault for having a completely messed up and confusing LRT.

Everywhere else in the US/Canada (and the rest of Houston), when you want to make a left hand turn, you get into the far left lane and watch for a gap in the ONCOMING traffic. But here in downtown Houston over that 12.1 km of track, you expect the drivers to remember that to turn left they must be in the middle lane and watch for a gap in the oncoming traffic and also watch for a gap in the train coming FROM BEHIND THEM. It should come at no suprise that numerous people forget about and don't look for train coming from behind when they turn left.....because this is never taught in driver training NOR do they encounter this anywhere else in the US/Canada. What everybody is used to when they can turn left across a set of train tracks, is the tracks are fitted with signals and sometimes barricades.

Houston LRT === "Worst LRT Ever!!!!" <--- said in the comic book shop guy voice.

(Light/Heavy Rail Transit systems I've ridden: Vancouver Sky Train, Calgary LRT, Edmonton LRT, Houston LRT, Paris RER, London Metro, Holland Train/Tram/Bus, K.L. Train/Tram, Disney Land Monorail :D )

+3 45. ModifiedGrays commented 13 years ago on video 3 plasma screens stolen in less than 30 sec

The important thing we learn here is to buy the biggest TV available, that way nobody can steal it. I recommend this one from Panasonic:
http://gizmodo.com/5442012/panasonics-152+inch-3d-plasma-the-biggest-tv-yet

Just being nit-picky, I think those were LCD's and not Plasmas. Depending on the size a Plasma weighs 75 - 100 lbs, while a similarly sized LCD is only 30 - 40 lbs.

+6 47. ModifiedGrays commented 13 years ago on video Woman at the Car Wash FAIL

#2 You shouldn't be allowed to comment on things you obviously have ZERO knowledge about.

Clearly you've never taken a car to the car wash before. At this automatic car wash, before you enter there will be a big sign that says "PUT YOUR CAR IN NEUTRAL AND DON'T ENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE AND KEEP YOUR FOOT OFF THE BRAKE."

Once you've done all of that a giant skate comes and pushes your car through the car wash. When your car gets to the end of the car wash, you need to put your car into "DRIVE" and drive away.

The problem is the person in the first car put their car into "REVERSE" and kept stepping on the gas. The person in the second car did nothing wrong.

+57 48. ModifiedGrays commented 13 years ago on video Crazy .50 caliber William Tell

The guy with the watermelon on his head is Freddie Wong aka "freddiew". He is a former film student who now spends his time creating videos for his YouTube channel. If you go to his channel or his website you can view his entire library of films. After each film he gives you a behind the scenes look of how the shot the video and how it was edited in Adobe After Effects.

For this film a real 50. cal round was shot at the washing machine you see at the end of the field and nobody was on the field. After the gun was fired, Freddie went out on the field with the Watermelon on his head. A fire cracker hidden inside the watermelon caused it to explode.

The two separate videos were then combined into this single video, giving you a very convincing video. The only short-coming that they had was the .50 cal bullet would have hit the hill behind him and kicked up a pile of dirt.
