Watching this reminded me of this book I read in high school.I would recommend this book to pilots and aspiring pilots alike.

“Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.”

#7 Fuel for that helicopter (Jet A) is about 5.50 a gallon. I would guess that the fuel burn for that type of operation is about 20 gallons an hour. So 100-120 an hour in fuel. He averages a tree in the truck every 50 seconds. Round that up to a minute. =60 trees an hour. how much do those trees sell for? 40 bucks? Sell 60 trees at $40 and get $2,400 for one hour of operating a helicopter. Obviously there are numerous other costs in that kind of operation but it seems like they have it figured out.

#4 I would say it's great execution because of great training. That's is a very dangerous situation. They had the runway environment in sight; which is required to descend below decision height ("minimums" ) and lost that visual pretty close to the runway. Excellent Job!

#(removed comment) He is not in the Army he is in the Marine Corps. He is a Marine Pilot flying a combat air patrol in a harrier jet. If you didn't know, he was ordered to deploy away from his family to provide support for TIC (Troops in Contact). If there are no troops in contact he orbits his AO (Area of operation) waiting for that call. At this point in the war he probably does more orbiting than shooting. So please refrain from accusing this Marine of wasting tax payers money when he is doing a job that he was ordered to do by the politicians you elected to office.
