If we cut and sell 1km squared of forest this year, next year we need to cut and sell 3% more and next year another 3% more and then another and another because shareholders ! If you donate the surplus to the poor then capitalism ceases to work, because more and more consumers gradually loose the incentive to pay the full price for anything and that diminishes the profits and less profit = less entrepreneurial initiative and so on, until everyone hangs around hungry, unable and unwilling to commit to any longer-term enterprise, like these poor communists in Africa. If you just feed the poor you only make them dependable on you and incapable of feeding themselves. If you really want to help them, send them 10000 copies of "An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations" by Adam Smith to lighten up and invent the Capitalism for themselves.
